Why Your Zodiac Sign Doesn't Matter

Astrology use to be such a taboo subject. As I've gotten older and times have moved forward we hear more and more about zodiac signs. I remember feeling like I was in on a secret as a young girl because my mother was very acquainted with it. Needless to say, I became intrigued too! I couldn't believe that I could learn about the characteristics of anyone I wanted just by asking when their birthday was. I thought of my zodiac sign as a badge of honor. I was one who would check my horoscope daily! I put more pride in being what my birthday said I was than who God says I am. Astrology is everywhere now! There are memes describing "the signs as different movie cast" or "the signs in certain situations", horoscope sections in newspapers and magazines, they're even horoscope apps dedicated to telling you "what to expect to happen to you today".

It's almost impossible to not know a little bit about astrology or at least have an opinion about it. My opinion was everyone else's opinion for a while. I swore by astrology! It got to a point where the next question I asked someone I was just meeting after their name was "When is your birthday?"....and the purpose was to PEG THEM by their zodiac sign. I would turn down a friendship or act cold/distant towards someone with a zodiac sign I wasn't fond of. "Oh, I ain't messing with no .....they're too clingy! That sign talks to much! This sign are big liars!"....so on and so forth. My friends would seek me out to tell them what to expect from someone they had just met or didn't like. I was very immature in my thinking and furthermore ignorant for thinking I could peg someones character with astrology. When the truth is astrology and zodiac signs don't align with the word of God. Instead of being in awe of the stars as the Lords creation the enemy has tricked us into placing trust in them to determine the course of our lives and the character of a someone.


As I've stated before the enemy loves when we identify with anything other than who we truly are. Have you noticed the way people light up when someone asks them what their sign is? Sadly, if you were to ask them what God says about them they wouldn't know and that inner light would grow dim. You'd probably get a surface answer like "Jesus loves everyone!" or "I'm a friend of God". They would probably have a look of oblivion on their face. They might not be as confident as they were about their "sign". This ultimately puts a smile on the enemies face. He would like nothing more than to have you clueless about who you truly are. I was one of those people! Astrology is yet another distraction placed before us to hinder our walk with God. So, I want to share some ways the enemy has created astrology to make God useless to us.


First and foremost, astrology is perversion of prophecy. Long ago, God gave prophets to His people to encourage and guide them.
Horoscopes today are a form of fortune telling which God forbids. To depend on a horoscope and the aligning of stars to determine your life's course is to not trust God with your life. To seek horoscopes reflects a lack of faith in God to supply your needs. And it is impossible to please God without faith. And it is impossible to please God without faith. "Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Heb 11:6 NLT" It's God that we are to seek daily NOT some astrologers interpretation of stars. "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matt 6:33 NLT" Looking back on the times I woke up eager to see what to expect for the day makes me feel silly. In the end, when "what was expected" didn't come to pass it only shed light more on what I didn't have. Horoscope are simply false hope. They will sink you further instead of building you up as God does.

Think of that person who put a bad taste in your mouth. If you're in tune with astrology you've probably took a mental note of their zodiac sign. Now every person you meet with the same sign as that person who "rubbed you the wrong way" is on your bad side because you feel they're capable of the same thing. Then you form a small amount of dislike for them and begin to shut them out because you don't feel y'all will mesh. This is something I know all too well! However, this is not the nature God. He tells us "The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these. Mark 12:31 NLT" Pegging someone because of something someone else did to you is not loving your neighbor. That is the nature of evil. Let's say that person is born again and is a new creature in Christ....to hold them accountable to what some zodiac sign says is to strip God of His power to change and have an effect on Man. 

Astrology sign characteristics also give us excuses to be rude at times. How many times have you heard someone say "I'm a....and I'm blunt, I just tell it like it is!" or any other excuse. If we are godly people who claim that God is our Lord and Savior we can't make excuses for that type of behavior. We can't align ourselves with what a zodiac sign says we are to be. The word of God says "Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19 NLT", not to be blunt or tell it like it is! We have to start realizing areas that the enemy is trying to wreck havoc in our lives and destroy us. 

I could go on but I'll leave it at this. Take this area of your life to God in prayer. Ask Him to give you wisdom when it comes to astrology, horoscopes, and fortune telling. God bless you!
